Summerhill Farm Diversification

Our client, the owner of a 96-acre farm in Glen Kens, cares for 250 easy-care sheep and 29 Angus and Hereford cows. With decreasing profit margins in livestock grazing over the past five years, the owners sought an additional income stream while continuing farm operations. They approached us through our partners at Iron & Pine, selecting their Z20 units for development.

The site design brief focused on creating privacy and exclusivity for guests while maximising the farm’s scenic views. During the consultation period, our planners reviewed local policies and statutory designations to determine the optimal unit locations. Given the open landscape, our planners recommended a site utilising existing woodland and farm track for access, complemented by new tree planting to provide guest privacy and reduce visual impact.

Approved Plans

The result was a thoughtful integration of guest accommodation that harmonises with the farm’s natural beauty and operational needs.

I can’t praise the team’s expertise enough. They made a potentially difficult process very smooth.
